Cryptography Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for software developers, mathematicians and others interested in cryptography. It's 100% free, no registration required.

For Example: In Bitcoin it is theoretically possible to double spend if you control > 50% of the computational power in the network. Also it is possible to apply "selfish mining" with far less than 51%.

What are ways, to improve a crypto-currency protocol, such that 51% attacks are not possible or very unlikely to perform?

(Thanks for the first Comment, and pointing that out)
