Are there any scientific papers or publications on GPU password cracking?

I'm guessing this question will be closed as off-topic as list questions are not very good for SE. That said, I think your question has some potential. For example, you could ask about limitations/weaknesses of GPU password cracking, designing a password verification system which resists massively parallel computation, etc. Also, consider posting on security.SE as these sorts of questions might be more on topic there (depending on the actual question). – mikeazo♦ May 10 '12 at 14:37

Closed for the reasons @mikeazo states - "please list" questions are quite hard to maintain and we've generally found they don't work. Also, as stated, somebody could simply answer "yes"... - however, if there is a specific problem you're looking at understanding, that would make a valid question. @Ninefingers It's not "please list". It's "are there any": a true/false answer. Either there are or there are not. For example, "Has anyone ever found two messages that collide in SHA1"; i'm not asking for a comprehensive list of all messages - i'm asking if it has ever happened. – Ian Boyd May 12 '12 at 19:19
@Ian I'm slightly confused, as it isn't you asking the question - however, c'mon, you have 22k rep on SO and you're telling me you can't see why we've closed this as list-inviting? "Are there any implementations of sha1 in C#?" is that a good question? No. Now, there is the potential for this to be a good question by asking about what you want to know reading those papers - but not asking for a yes/no, and not asking for some papers. – Antony Vennard May 12 '12 at 19:53
