I am a PhD student with an interest in theoretical cryptography and mathematical tools used for cryptanalysis.

comment Is it possible to figure out the public key from encrypted text?
Your reduction seems to be on the following line: If she can guess $e$, then she can compute $N$ and hence the factorization of $N$. Since the latter problem is assumed to be hard, we see that we have a contradiction and hence it should not be possible for Eve to find out the public key by looking at the plaintext and the corresponding ciphertext. So, I think you proved that it is not possible to guess the value of $e$. Correct me if I am wrong.

comment What is the relation between Discrete Log, Computational Diffie-Hellman and Decisional Diffie-Hellman?
Actually, Maurer and Wolf proved in The Relationship Between Breaking the Diffie--Hellman Protocol and Computing Discrete Logarithms the equivalence of the two in the uniform sense based on some assumptions on the order of the group.

comment What is the importance of Modular arithmetic in cryptography?
I completely agree with you. Thanks for the comment. I tried to answer the question to give a broad overall picture. I decided to keep the technical details to minimum to restrain myself from digressing a bit. From next time, I will be more careful.

comment ElGamal: Multiplicative cyclic group and key generation
Thanks! I tried using the basic latex method to write in the math mode, but it didn't work. Now I know :)
