I currently live in southern Sweden, where I'm studying computer security at the university. When I have my masters of scienc exam in said subject, I hope to start studying for a Ph.D in cryptography.

I spend a lot of time by the computer, for obvious reasons, and I program in multiple languages, mainly C++, PHP and Python. I do have interests other than computer science, however, and the ones to which I am most dedicated are martial arts (mainly Gung Fu and HEMA), games (computer, board and roleplaying games) and linguistics (preferably the study of extinct languages).

I am part of the StackExchange comminuty mainly to learn, but I will do my best to teach as well if I feel that I have something to offer.

Writing it down helped a lot actually. It became much clearer, and I now understand where the equation comes from, and why it looks as it does, which was my question. It will suffice for now, so many a hat off to you, and thanks once again!

Hmm, ok. It did get a bit messy at toward the end. I'll give it a shot with paper and pen, to see if I can clear things up a bit. But it's not improbable that this is way above me; I haven't spent too much time studying differential cryptanalysis.. But I will most certainly take your advice and read up on the subject. Thank you very much!

The exercise did not require any previous knowledge, so assuming textbook RSA is probably sufficient :) @mikeazo : Thanks a lot, I do see why it's not safer now. In fact it is very obvious, now that I read it. And no, I don't have any more brute force options in mine :) Thank you!

@StephenTouset: This is a theoretical problem, not a practical. Therefore the option to choose a longer key is irrelevant, but thanks for the input.

I do follow your arguments, and I agree with them. Although, I was looking for a more mathematical explanation. I've added some info to the question to make it clearer.
