Cryptography vs Security
@Giliweed what I was saying is that InfoSec relies on Cryptography as a tool. When engineering a system for security, or when auditing/testing/whatever, one should not be delving into all the cryptographic research field, but just e.g. "Use AES" (with the proper parameters). As a field of study/research/academics, Crypto can stand alone, outside of security engineering.
