comment What should I be aware of when implementing algorithms myself?
If in an application that isn't a real-time system (encryption is on the user side, and takes a variable amount of time depending on the user's input), and performance was not an issue, would a functionally correct implementation be all that was necessary? I'm not trying to rationalize all the threats away, I just want to understand exactly what circumstances this kind of thing would be unsafe in.
