comment How exactly was the finalist chosen in the NIST AES competition?
@Richie How do you know they are made up in the slides? Anyway I was trying to find out the exact process and analysis that they used to determine the overall rankings of each algorithm. That will be critical in deciding if it was fairly done. I'm guessing the AES standard was designed more as a "one algorithm fits all" approach while sacrificing some security. However specific developers should be able to see the full analysis and perhaps tweak it to remove criteria that aren't important to them. In which case they might end up with a different algorithm from Rijndael that would be better.
