Well, there's no difference between the headers of gpg --encrypt and gpg --sign and even gpg --store , all of them are OpenPGP messages with very similar headers and identical ASCII armor – you can't easily tell by looking which one is encrypted and which one is not. (Hint: The latter two aren't.)
