I'm interested in the properties of the original middle square method as articulated by John von Neumann and in particular in the relation between seed value and its period length (in cases where the sequence isn't destructive). According to Wikipedia "Nicholas Metropolis reported sequences of 750,000 digits before "destruction" by means of using 38-bit numbers with the "middle-square" method." Has anyone produced and made a table of such values available to the public?
