I believe that Monicagate (a.k.a. the Code of Conduct controversy) is an example of sexism on the part of the Stack Exchange leadership.

The leaders were willing to come down in force upon a woman who, despite years of contributions, had not in their eyes done enough extra labor to "make people feel welcome".

On no more evidence than an unproven accusation on Twitter, they suspended a pillar of the community for being a woman who had an opinion of her own on how this community works best. The subsequent fallout, of course, proved her right in every way.

Until we have leaders who really get diversity, Stack Exchange will not be a welcoming place for women. Especially women who don't take it lying down that our current leaders claim to know better than them what diversity is about.
